Foundation Apprentices – from Portlethen Academy
Further to the success of previously being involved with
Foundation Apprentices (FA), we welcome Maya Johnston
and Henry Okeakwa who are joining us this year.
Maya and Henry will spend time each week in the workplace where they
will learn practical skills and gain valuable experience whilst gaining real
industry knowledge and a qualification while still attending school.
Maya will be hosted by the Construction Team and is studying a
Business Skills FA.
The team here look forward to being involved in the development of
the next generation and continuing their partnership with Portlethen
Academy.
Maya, an avid fan of Formula 1 and The Vamps, recently joined us from
Portlethen Academy for her Foundation Apprenticeship through @DYW.
She has been a pleasure to have around the office so far.
We sat down with Maya to learn more about her and what led her to
choosing a Foundation Apprenticeship.
“I’ve always enjoyed business and wanted to learn more about it, and I
felt that this was the most appropriate pathway for me. So far, I’ve really
enjoyed the independence, I’m able to come in and get going on my
work on my own schedule, and I’ve been surprised at how quickly I can
get work done this way. I hope to take away from this experience a better
understanding of how an office works and general workplace and business
skills.”
Henry will join the Technical Team, and his FA is in Scientific Technology.
