Patrol Deputy Matt Brown now serves
as our new dedicated DUII Deputy.

In March 2021, Sheriff Brandenburg made DUII
enforcement an even greater priority with the creation
of a full-time DUII Deputy position. Deputy Brown’s
full-time assignment: detecting and arresting impaired
drivers. He also assists other deputies on suspected DUII
traffic stops, freeing those deputies to respond to other
calls for service.

The Sheriff hopes to expand this DUII enforcement
program in the future.
In 2021 alone, in his new role, Deputy Brown made 121
DUII arrests, executed 52 blood-draw search warrants,
assisted in 13 post-arrest DUII or crash investigations
for other deputies, and completed 13 Drug Recognition
Expert evaluations.
A United States Marine Corps veteran, Deputy Brown is
also a member of Clackamas County’s Traffic Homicide
Team, which investigates serious physical injury or fatal
traffic crashes involving impaired drivers.
