With human connection at the heart of Chapter
One9s impact, we arrange two special opportunities
for children and volunteers to come together in the
course of the year.
Match volunteers
and children
Our online Meet and Greet events, held between
November and January, are an opportunity for pairs
who have already begun reading together to put a
face to a name and voice and deepen the bonds that
they have already started to form.
At our end-of-year celebrations, held in-person where
logistics allow, each child is presented with a
certificate and personal activity book full of stories,
word games and fun activities. The volunteer and
child chat and reflect on their year of reading and the
progress made. The children can then take their
activity books home to continue to explore the
wonder of reading over the summer holidays.
