The SEAdevelops the four major softskills groups and is availableto residents ages five andolder through three innovativeprograms:combat the digital divide.• Have access to internshipsthrough the Young AdultCareer Academy, whichoffers residents ages 14-18paid opportunities in differentsectors.The Early ChildhoodDevelopment Program helpschildren develop key life skills.Through the program the will:• Upon completion, participantswill receive nationallyrecognized certificationsand be eligible for livingwage salaries through directemployment opportunities.• We partnered with FloridaInternational University’sMoss School of Construction,Infrastructure and• Establish a strong foundationfor financial literacy andhealthy spending habits.• Become familiar withinnovative technology toThe Workforce Trades Programis a post-secondary alternativeto college, which offersintensive training in workforcedevelopment and life skills.Sustainability to offer a free14-week certificate programon construction trades, whichbegan in January 2020.The EntrepreneurshipProgram, which will launchin the near future, is a sixto nine-month interactivecourse focused on developingvaluable business skills.• At the end of the course,students will have a fullydeveloped business plan tostart their endeavors.We believe in the importanceof giving our residents tangibletools and skills that will equipthem for stable, living-wagejobs that will allow them tobe thriving members of theircommunities.Young adults ages 18-24years old represent a growingsegment of ChapmanPartnership’s population, with asteady increase over the pastten years.The Youth Dorm at theDowntown Miami Center,sponsored by the MiamiFoundation and Macy's,was ideated and designedto provide young adultsexperiencing homelessness aprivate and safe spacewhere they can feelcomfortable. They get the bestof both worlds: independenceto thrive combine with careand support they need throughcase management services.With plans to expand in thefuture, the dorm currentlyhouses 20 male residents andprovide a variety of tools andresources to empower them tolive a fulfilling and independentlife, these include:• A private and safe space forhomeless youth to socializeand bond with their peers.• Partnerships with groupssuch as Educate Tomorrowand Casa Valentina that willallow residents to createpermanent connectionsin the community that willbenefit them in the future.• Social and culturalexperiences for residentsas well as informativeworkshops.• Short-term, certificate-based,living wage education toequip them with knowledgeand skills to secure stableemployment and earn alivable wage.Chapman Partnership iscommitted to implementinginnovative programs andinitiatives, such as the YouthDorm Program, that fosterslong-term independence anda promising future for youngresidents.Empowering Homeless Youth toIndependence
