steady increase over the past
ten years.
The Youth Dorm at the
Downtown Miami Center,
sponsored by the Miami
Foundation and Macy's,
was ideated and designed
to provide young adults
experiencing homelessness a
private and safe space
where they can feel
comfortable. They get the best
of both worlds: independence
to thrive combine with care
and support they need through
case management services.
With plans to expand in the
future, the dorm currently
houses 20 male residents and
provide a variety of tools and
resources to empower them to
live a fulfilling and independent
life, these include:
• A private and safe space for
homeless youth to socialize
and bond with their peers.
• Partnerships with groups
such as Educate Tomorrow
and Casa Valentina that will
allow residents to create
permanent connections
in the community that will
benefit them in the future.
• Social and cultural
experiences for residents
as well as informative
workshops.
• Short-term, certificate-based,
