DESIGNATED PURPOSE FUNDS
Designated Purpose Funds allow donors to name one or more specific organizations or agencies to benefit annually from
the fund. Each gift is invested for long-term growth to provide perpetual support to the organization(s). Designated
Purpose Funds are good choices for donors who want to support a charity or charities for multiple years so that
distributions can be spread out over time to help with the charity’s planning. The fund can be named after a designated
organization, in honor of a loved one, or another name that highlights the fund’s purpose.

DISCRETIONARY GRANTMAKING FUNDS
Discretionary grantmaking funds are unrestricted funds that provide great flexibility to the Community Foundation so it
can respond to emerging or immediate needs of the community. The grants are made at the discretion of CFAAC and grant
committees so they can use the funding to address important community concerns that may evolve over time. These funds
may be used in times of crisis.

FIELD OF INTEREST FUNDS
Field of Interest Funds allow donors to identify and support a broad charitable purpose or category of interest, such as the
arts, education, human services, or a geographic area in the county. These funds are broad in scope yet targeted to meet
the needs of the community. CFAAC’s grant review committees use their expertise to identify, evaluate, and award grants
to organizations whose request or proposal most closely aligns with the purpose of the fund.
