Branding & Materials
What is the status with your key art, poster, website,
trailer? While you may not need a trailer to begin your
submissions, you will certainly need your key art.
If you have not already produced these materials, there
are some recommendations here. Again, with so much
competition in the festival arena, you want to put your
best foot forward.
Timeline
Have you set targets for when you would like to see the
film come out? Are you planning for a theatrical
release? If you don’t find a theatrical distributor, will you
create your own alternative distribution play? If you
don’t need a theatrical but are leaning toward
streaming, is there a target for release? If it’s a social
impact film, are you thinking about educational or nontheatrical distribution? These are all considerations,
and yes, they may change on the course of your
journey, but having some general goals can be helpful.
They can influence the timing of your submission
strategy. And you being able to hit early deadlines
whenever possible. Save some money there.
