1. Goals
As you know by now, festivals have become a critical
part of the filmmaker journey. There are thousands to
choose from, and most of them have submission fees
and would be happy to take your money. The average
festival run is about a year. Some films play fewer and
move into distribution. Others milk festival travel,
screening fees and networking as much as they can,
often extending their run into a second year.
While there are a myriad of goals to consider when
planning your adventures on the circuit, you will have a
more productive run, and save a ton of money, if you
