72. P = Prepare
Now that you’ve been invited to a festival you know will
help you to reach your goals, you need to move to the
planning stage for that specific event. Have you ordered
postcards? When you get screening times and locations,
you can then add labels. If you haven’t yet, you can add
laurels for this fest to your materials. Inquire with the fest
about transportation and accommodations, as well as any
other event schedules they may already have ready to go.
Find out about your cast’s availability and request
screenings that work for you. It never hurts to ask. When
the program & schedule have been published, see who
you might want to connect with and plan your time
carefully in advance. See what films speak to you; and
which events may be a dressy affair so you have what you
need with you. You will be pulled in a million different
directions once the event starts, and it’s as exhausting as
it is exhilarating. The more you prepare, the more you’ll get
out of it on every level.
