Carl Shofstall ran for Sarasota City
Commission in 2022. Shofstall had served as
President of the City Coalition of Neighborhood
Associations (CCNA), as chair of the CityÕs
Parks, Recreation and Environmental
Protection Advisory Board, as well as President
of the Lido Key ResidentsÕ Association.
Shofstall came in fourth in the primary, so did
not make the runoû for the At-Large City
Commission race.(

This political committee was created
speciÞcally to support Carl ShofstallÕs
candidacy. William Staûord Jones was the
treasurer and chairman of the committee, and
Richard Coates was the registered agent.

engaging in a municipal or County election is
required to register with that speciÞc
municipality or County. Neighbors for a Better
Sarasota should have been registered with the
