Citizens Have Rights In Sarasota (CHRIS) is
registered with the Sarasota County Supervisor
of Elections (SOE), as is Sarasota Demands
Accountability. According to Florida Law “a
political committee which is organized to
support or oppose candidates or issues to be
voted on in a countywide election or
candidates or issues in any election held on
less than a countywide basis shall file a
statement of organization with the supervisor of
elections of the county in which such election
is being held.”
Political committees discussed thus far are
active in County elections, but registered with
the state, not the applicable county SOE. It
certainly would make things easier for voters to
research County PACs on their county SOE
website. In May 2012, Bob Waechter received
a letter from the state directing him to register
