Funding attack mailers against Frank DiCicco
In 2016 the District 1 County Commission seat
became open, as sitting County Commissioner
Carolyn Mason had served two terms on the
Commission and was term limited out. Two
candidates were vying for the open seat in the
Republican primary: Mike Moran and Frank
DiCicco. Moran was supported by prominent
developers Pat Neal, Carlos Beru and Rex
Jensen. DiCicco was a newcomer.
United Citizens for Florida funded a website
attacking DiCicco for past business failures
during the economic downturn in late 2008 and
2009.DiCicco owned an investment home that
went into foreclosure and his laundromat
business went under.
DiCicco explained to Sarasota Herald-Tribune
reporter Zach Murdock that an adjustable rate
mortgage on investment property increased
