Florida charges a 6% tax rate on the sale or
rental of goods, with some exceptions such as
groceries and medicine. Counties are able to
levy local taxes on top of the state amount, but
the local money collected is restricted to uses
which include infrastructure, education and
indigent health care.
Committee to Protect Florida’s Seniors
includes donations from developers Pat Neal,
Randy Benderson & Carlos Beru. These
developers have a clear interest in preserving
Manatee County’s taxing capacity for
infrastructure spending.
Another committee, Veteran’s for Conservative
Principles, gave $66,000 to Committee to
Protect Florida’s Seniors.
