My run for County Commission taught me how
little awareness there is in our community
about local government and the corruption that
exists at the local level. Since then IÕve worked
to raise awareness about local dark money and
the importance of local government. When
there is strong community awareness, money is
no longer a decisive factor in elections. ItÕs still
important, but candidates with less funding can
win when the electorate has a keener
awareness of issues and candidates.
The father of a good friend used to say ÒNo
one is a complete failure! They can always
serve as a bad example.Ó
Florida serves as a bad example of how dark
money can pollute local government.
