Kovach said he didn’t have the energy to
contend with the mudslinging and political
maneuvering he felt would be coming in the
next race for his District 4 School Board seat.
Prior to Kovach’s decision not to run again,
former Sarasota Republican Party chair Eric
Robinson announced that he was considering
running for School Board. Mr. Robinson served
as the Chair, Treasurer and Registered Agent
for “Citizens Against Taxation Political
Committee”, the PAC which supported Mrs.
Zeigler. Today, Eric Robinson is listed as
treasurer of at least 92 political committees
registered with the state of Florida. Forty-five
of these committees are currently active. All
told, Mr. Robinson has managed over $22
million flowing through these committees.
Ultimately, Mr. Robinson decided to run for the
District 4 School Board seat. Two other
candidates filed to run as well, a Democrat and
a Republican, but both withdrew from the race.
