COLD CHAIN LOGISTICS EXCELLENCE
tions. “One of the major challenges the cold
chain industry faces is maintaining proper
insulation between the internal and external
environments of storage facilities. Preventing
excessive heat from entering is crucial for
preserving the quality of stored products,”
Jinali emphasises.
She shines the light on another critical
issue in cold storage operations: frosting and
condensation on storage doors. “Frost and
condensation can severely impact e昀케ciency.
Frost build-up obstructs door movement,
which leads to increased energy consumption, while condensation creates slippery,
hazardous conditions,” Jinali explains, stating
that these problems can a昀昀ect both safety
and the smooth operation of the facility,
adding complexity to maintaining the
necessary low temperatures.
To overcome these obstacles, Gandhi
Automations has developed advanced cold
storage door solutions. “Our High Speed
Prime Freezer Doors are engineered to
manage temperatures, featuring an anticrash protection system and dual curtain
technology that reduces convection. With an
opening speed of 2 m/s, these doors enhance
frost-free operation while maintaining stable
temperatures,” Jinali elaborated.
She also reveals about Gandhi’s premium range of Cold Storage Sliding Doors
and Hinged Doors, which are designed for
e昀케ciency and durability even in extreme
temperatures as low as -400C. “These doors
feature excellent insulation, robust construction, and advanced technology that minimise
condensation and frost, ensuring operational
e昀케ciency and safety,” she mentions.
Narayan Prasad, Procurement
Logistics Specialist at MARS, talks about
ensuring continuity and 昀氀exibility in cold
chain operations amid logistical challenges
and global supply chain disruptions. “For me,
the key is being ‘brilliant at your basics’. As
long as we maintain a strong grasp of the
fundamentals, we can more easily adapt to
any challenges that arise,” Prasad concurs.
He highlights the fact that India’s growing
market and the increasing investment in
shared premises by suppliers have provided
opportunities for businesses like MARS to
leverage the versatility of the cold chain
sector. “Suppliers are coming up with unique
investments in shared premises, which allows
buyers like us to bene昀椀t from the versatility
in the cold chain market. This trend also
encourages vehicle owners to invest in smaller,
more e昀케cient vehicles,” he notes.

Robotics and AI are set to
significantly enhance efficiency
and precision within the cold
chain. Automated systems,
along with robotic handlers,
will be able to manage the
storage and movement of
temperature-sensitive goods
with remarkable accuracy and
speed. This level of automation
ensures that optimal conditions
are maintained consistently,
minimising the risks of spoilage
or product damage. AI-powered
predictive maintenance will
also play a crucial role by
monitoring equipment and
predicting potential failures
before they happen, reducing
downtime and ensuring
refrigeration units and other
critical systems operate at peak
performance.
