HAROPA turns the first spade on future
multimodal port in Paris
C

Seine Métropole Ouest/
Western Metropolitan
Seine Port (PSMO) has commenced
in the Yvelines département,
about 60 kilometres from Paris.

By developing new port facilities, HAROPA PORT is consolidating its coverage of the Paris
region, extending its hinterland to
expand the use of river transport.
The Seine Axis ports will thus be
helping reduce greenhouse gas
emissions and combat climate
change. The investment implemented by HAROPA PORT stands
at €122 million.
Located at the confluence
of the Seine and the Oise rivers,
the land occupied by PSMO –
approximately 100 hectares – is
located in the Achères, Andrésy
and Conflans-Sainte-Honorine
municipalities. The multimodal
facility is expected to host
activities in the construction and
civil engineering sectors and
will allow river and rail transport to
be developed across the Paris area.
The 昀椀rst phase of the construction work will enable the
new port to become operational
as early as 2027. This will be followed by additional development
work continuing up to 2040.
Etihad Cargo achieves
IATA’s CEIV Li-batt
certification
tihad Cargo has received the
EAssociation’s
International Air Transport
(IATA) Centre of
Excellence for Independent Validators Lithium Batteries (CEIV
Li-batt) certification. The carrier
is the third Middle Eastern airline
to attain this certification and
fifth airline globally to achieve
all four CEIV certifications –
Pharma, Fresh, Live Animals
and Li-batt. Gaining CEIV Li-batt
certification is a testament to
Etihad Cargo’s sophisticated
safety management systems,
specialised equipment, and a
team proficient in the specific
logistics of lithium battery
shipments. Etihad Cargo’s distinction in this area enhances its
capability to support the growing
needs of industries reliant on
these critical components. This
milestone also aligns with the
carrier’s continuous strategic
efforts to adhere to the most
stringent international safety
and quality standards.
Airbus signs SAF buy
in agreement with
TotalEnergies
announced that it has
Awithirbus
signed a strategic partnership
TotalEnergies to purchase
sustainable aviation fuel
(SAF) for half of the aircraft
manufacturer’s needs in Europe.
The partnership will also develop
a research and innovation
programme aimed at producing
100% sustainable fuels tailored
to the design of current and
future aircraft. The impact of
the composition of SAF on the
reduction of CO2 emissions
and non-CO2 effects, such as
contrails, will also be studied.
TotalEnergies has been supplying
SAF to Airbus for its aircraft
deliveries in Toulouse since 2016.
Moreover, TotalEnergies also
supplied the fuel for several first
SAF flights with Airbus aircraft
in May 2021, the first long-haul
flight using French-produced
SAF with an A350 between Paris
and Montreal.
