Unexpected Beginnings
Like many, I stumbled into the
industry by chance, initially
starting as a junior reporter
on an air cargo title in 1994.
What began as a temporary gig
turned into a lifelong passion,
and I've never looked back since.
It's crucial that we amplify the
signi昀椀cance of our remarkable
industry to attract and retain the
next generation of leaders. It's a
collective responsibility for all
of us to do so – let's get to work,
everyone. Even my 19-year-old
son has recently joined the fold,
completing an apprenticeship in
freight forwarding and embarking on his 昀椀rst job in air freight
– a testament to the industry's
enduring appeal.
Commitment to Sector
I am deeply passionate about
my work and equally fervent
about the industry I serve. In my
role in PR, being outspoken and
enthusiastic is not only 昀椀tting
but essential. Shying away from
the spotlight would be a missed
opportunity to advocate for both
my profession and the broader
industry.
Striving for Balance
You won’t be surprised to hear
me say that I don’t think it is possible to ‘have it all’, something
inevitably has to give.
Trust yourself, be fearless, work hard, and
spend a lot of time listening. You should be
prepared for some bumps along the way,
when they come.

Discovering Possibilities
Never underestimate yourself.
Take a deep breath even when
you feel intimidated, and you will
be surprised to learn that maybe
the prejudice you thought you
would face was actually yours
in the 昀椀rst place. That is not to
say it isn’t tough at times, but if
you stay open-minded you will
see everything is possible and
there will be many people to help
you on the way.
Determination to Succeed
Given the responsibility of being a
publisher at a young age by a supportive boss, I transitioned from
being an editor to leading teams of
journalists and salespeople while
also reporting to accountants.
Returning to work after maternity leave posed its challenges,
particularly as a 昀椀rst-time mom.
Despite lacking experience and
facing a new role upon my return,
my boss's faith in me fueled my
determination to succeed. I dedicated myself to the role, learning
and growing along the way, ultimately gaining the con昀椀dence to
start my own company.
Fostering Interaction
My godmother Rita advised me to
wear a brooch as it would spark conversations. I always wear intriguing
jewelry, and it consistently initiates
discussions.
