SUPER WOMEN IN SUPPLY CHAIN
A Strong Leader Extracts Value
from Every Experience
ELENA DMITRIEVTSEVA
Deputy Director– Container
Transportation, JSC RZD Logistics
The Start of a Thrilling
Journey
As a matter of chance during
my second year of studies, I was
hired as a secretary at a transport
company. The CEO, recognising
my potential, o昀昀ered me a role
focussed on optimising company
expenses through e昀케cient route
planning. This marked the beginning of my thrilling journey in
logistics.
Leadership Philosophy
I consider myself as a 昀椀rm yet
fair leader. I’m open to discussing
any issues my colleagues face and
o昀昀ering advice or assistance as
needed. However, I have zero
tolerance for laziness; individuals
unwilling to put in effort are
incompatible with my work style.
I thrive on challenging projects
and eagerly immerse in them.
Currently, at RZD Logistics, I’m
involved in numerous exciting
endeavors, such as the International North-South Transport
Corridor, which o昀昀ers incredible
opportunities for professional
growth.
Balancing personal life,
friendships, and a heavy workload can be challenging, but I
strive to ensure my pursuit of
self-realisation doesn’t negatively
impact anyone. In Russia, they say
“everything comes with experience,” and I truly feel I manage
this balance better now than I
did 昀椀ve years ago.
Core Values
I value honesty and a consistent
commitment to one’s goals,
regardless of the pace of progress. I’m inspired by individuals
who exhibit business acumen
and continually strive for selfimprovement through learning.
While I don’t follow any speci昀椀c
leader, I deeply admire successful,
self-made individuals. Fortunately, I’ve had the opportunity
to meet such people throughout
my life—some as managers, others as friends. I cherish these
encounters, eagerly soaking up
their knowledge and experiences
like a sponge.
The Path to Growth
A strong leader extracts value
from every experience, including
the negative ones. I’m thankful
for the lessons and individuals
encountered along my professional journey, even if some have
disappointed me. These challenges have made me stronger
and wiser.
Catalyst for Change
Staying in the comfort zone feels
safe, yet occasionally stepping
out is essential for personal
growth.
Imagining the Ultimate
Productivity
Many believe women excel at
multitasking, but I wish we
could scale up this skill to handle
incompatible tasks simultaneously. Imagine talking on the
phone, working at the computer,
and driving to an important
meeting all at once. Another
superpower I wish for is the
ability to be in di昀昀erent places
simultaneously!
In my opinion, it’s never too late to start
something new. Don’t let anyone discourage
you. Strive for professionalism in everything
you do, and avoid trying to do everything
at once. Lastly, despite setbacks or
circumstances that may seem unchangeable,
keep working at your goals. Taking action is
always better than doing nothing.
