Community Centre
Community Centre is a public building classified as high profile amongst Camden Council's built assets.
A Community Centre is one building with minimum of one single large hire space + associated areas.
Community Centre buildings are not required to be designed for a specific use.
The top three most common uses for Community Centres at the time of writing these standards are:
Physical Culture Dance Classes
Martial Arts Classes
Religious Group Gatherings
If you categorised Community Centres into three sizes, they would include the following:
Small

100 Seated People Capacity
Medium
|
200 Seated People Capacity
Large
|
300 Seated People Capacity
The Community Centre described in this manual is a small Community Centre.
STANDARD REQUIREMENTS
This document includes a set of standard requirements to be incorporated into the design and
construction of Community Centre buildings within the Camden LGA.
Any variations to the requirements set out in this document are to be approved by Camden Council prior
to incorporation in documentation for each building.
IMPORTANT NOTES
A Community Centre is a place that will be hired out for use by members of the public. It is important
the hireable area is a clearly defined zone with one main door access and no doors connecting to other
hireable areas.
The objective of this document is to ensure that the building is suitable for long-term use by all
members of the public.
