Transmission Areas & Recreational Spaces
Transmission easements are often located adjacent to recreational open space. In these cases the
transmission easement area and adjacent public open space should be designed as one with specific
attention to integrating their form and function:
− Maintain view lines between parklands and transmission easement areas;
− Create opportunities for extending recreational use of transmission easement to include facilities such as
BMX/mountain bike tracks, dog off-leash areas, where it is permissible, safe, and desirable to do so; and
− Where recreational use in transmission easement is proposed, provide easy, gradual transition between
the higher grounds of open space and drainage basins.
