5.1.5 Material selection
The fixtures and materials used in all open space components must meet the following longevity,
maintenance, and sustainability criteria:
− Recycled, reusable and/or made of re-purposed materials where possible;
− Locally sourced and renewable;
− Hard-wearing materials and finishes requiring a low level of maintenance;
− Material and finishes selected based on their ability to reflect heat and their potential to reduce urban heat
impacts; and
− Use of low emission and permeable materials wherever possible, without compromising inclusivity and
accessibility.
