2.8.3 Sports field hierarchy
In the Camden LGA the sportsfield are identified using a three-tier hierarchy system:
− National – this level is for an elite level of play, which requires a very high performance level of
drainage with specialist design input.
− Regional – this level is to cater for high level play. Drainage is to be very efficient and the natural turf
field is to be high-performing with minimal maintenance necessary.
− Local - this level is for community use, including training purposes. The field will therefore have a
very high level of usage and needs to drain effectively and be very robust to minimise maintenance
requirements.

2.8.4 Sports field design and construction
Each sports code has specific requirements for field size, posts, nets, line markings and safety
overruns. Camden Council has created the CSFS to ensure minimum field standards are designed to
the level that Camden Council deems suitable for the location.
