2.5.1 What is a Natural Area?
The term natural area refers to any land, which is classified as environmentally significant or is zoned
for Environmental Management or Environmental Conservation in the Camden LEP 2010 or SEPP
Sydney Growth Centres 2006. Such areas are subject to specific controls to ensure their conservation.

Natural areas in the Camden LGA can be wetlands, watercourses, and bushland.
There are a number of documents guiding development within natural areas in the Camden LGA:

− SEPP Sydney Growth Centres 2006
− Camden Development Control Plan 2019
− Camden Growth Areas Development Control Plan, 2016
− Oran Park and Turner Road Development Control Plan
− Guidelines for riparian corridors on waterfront land, the NSW Department of Primary Industries, Office
of Water
− Existing conservation agreements
− Australian Natural Heritage Charter, 2002
Rehabilitation works will be guided by the relevant master plans and plans of management.
