23 428157 Camden Open Space Design Manual 1 August 2023 - Flipbook - Page 20
Camden Council recognises that open space is a key component for
creating successful communities. Development within the Camden
LGA provides an exceptional opportunity to set the foundations
of sustainable, liveable, and prosperous neighbourhoods. We are
committed to applying forward thinking and carefully crafted design
strategy to achieve fit-for-purpose, meaningful, exhilarating and
delightful places for the existing and emerging communities of Camden.
This chapter establishes the predominant types of public open spaces within the Camden LGA.
It is acknowledged that these types may differ from the classifications for community land
under the Local Government Act 1993. This document does not supersede or compete with the
requirements for different land classifications within the Act. Rather, it is intended to provide
additional guidance to support the appropriate development of open space in ways that are
consistent with the requirements of the Act and in ways that are unique and specific to the
communities of Camden.
