5.6.4 Water recreation facilities
Wet drainage areas are permanent water bodies which are designed to have some detention capacity.
Water in the public domain is naturally appealing for its scenic qualities and recreation opportunities.
Council encourages design teams to incorporate options for appropriate recreational use of those water
bodies.
This could be non-motorised water sports, bridge walks, boat ramps, scenic lookouts, sun decks, picnic
areas and others. To support these uses, the following guidelines apply:
− Provide a clear diagram of expected stormwater cycle through the drainage area with predicted high and
low water levels;
− Provide sufficient and appropriate embellishments and facilities to support recreational use; and
− Create appropriate edge treatment to cater for fluctuating water levels.
