The Camden Open Space Design Manual (COSDM) is one of a suiteof design documents prepared by Camden Council to set principlesand guidelines for the development of existing and future public openspace within the Camden Local Government Area (LGA). The manualcovers parks, playgrounds, natural areas, drainage areas, transmissioneasements and sportsgrounds.The COSDM provides design guidance to ensure that futuredevelopments and upgraded open spaces provide facilities that meetthe needs of the new and emerging communities of Camden.1.1PurposeThe purpose of the COSDM is to provide a set ofdesign principles, guidelines and requirements forall new or upgraded public open spaces within theCamden LGA.The COSDM provides overarching designprinciples, and through the establishment ofdetailed design guidelines, sets a minimumstandard of high quality, well reasoned, andthoroughly considered design for all public openspace throughout Camden.1.2ScopeIt provides detailed requirements for open spaceand is intended to be read in conjunction with theCamden Council Development Control Plan andthe various Camden Growth Centre PrecinctsDevelopment Control Plans.1.3UsersThe COSDM is primarilly aimed at a professionalaudience who are involved in the planning, designand implementation of public domain works withinthe Camden LGA.
