The Camden Open Space Design Manual (COSDM) is one of a suite
of design documents prepared by Camden Council to set principles
and guidelines for the development of existing and future public open
space within the Camden Local Government Area (LGA). The manual
covers parks, playgrounds, natural areas, drainage areas, transmission
easements and sportsgrounds.
The COSDM provides design guidance to ensure that future
developments and upgraded open spaces provide facilities that meet
the needs of the new and emerging communities of Camden.
1.1
Purpose
The purpose of the COSDM is to provide a set of
design principles, guidelines and requirements for
all new or upgraded public open spaces within the
Camden LGA.
The COSDM provides overarching design
principles, and through the establishment of
detailed design guidelines, sets a minimum
standard of high quality, well reasoned, and
thoroughly considered design for all public open
space throughout Camden.
1.2
Scope
It provides detailed requirements for open space
and is intended to be read in conjunction with the
Camden Council Development Control Plan and
the various Camden Growth Centre Precincts
Development Control Plans.
1.3
Users
The COSDM is primarilly aimed at a professional
audience who are involved in the planning, design
and implementation of public domain works within
the Camden LGA. This includes council staff,
professionals engaged by council, professionals
engaged by other entities and the development
industry involved in delivering open space for the
communities of Camden.
The COSDM applies to all areas within the Camden
LGA that are, or will become, public open space.
