ONLY SON OF KODIAC AT STUD IN AUSTRALASIA
Wootton Bassett’s rise through the stallion ranks
has been meteoric. A champion two-year-old in
France, Wootton Bassett retired to stud at Haras
d’Etreham and stood for a fee of €6,000 in his
first season. His first crop of just 23 foals included
European Champion 3YO Almanzor and success
in subsequent crops prompted Coolmore Stud to
purchase him. The son of Iffraaj stood his first
season at the international breeding giant’s Irish
base for a fee of €100,000 in 2021.
From humble beginnings Kodiac has established
himself as one of the best sources of speed and
precocity in Europe. A Group performer on the
track, Kodiac secured a place at Tally Ho Stud
largely thanks to his exceptional pedigree. The
three-quarter brother to leading sire Invincible
Spirit has gone on to be crowned European
Champion Sire of 2YOs in 2018 and 2020. As a
result his fee has steadily risen from €5,000 to
€65,000.
