PATHWAY TO INDEPENDENCE
These courses are specialised provision for those who have
learning difficulties and/or disabilities. They are designed
to help you develop personal independence, or pursue
employment by giving you the skills and experience you
need to succeed.

STUDIES
Entry onto either the Pathway to Independence
or the Pathway to Employment is subject to
assessment needs, school/college reference
and EHCP outcomes.

NEW HORIZONS
COURSE CODE: V224
This is a specialist provision for students
with profound and multiple learning difficulties
and autism. It is designed to help every student
achieve their full potential; this is done through
person-centered planning and specialised
teaching, learning and assessment. Students
have opportunities to take part in activities
like swimming and a residential trip.
LIFE WISE
This course will help those who wish to
start developing skills for independent living
at home, and in the community. To develop
these skills, you will volunteer, access your
community, and, with support, learn how
to use and become more confident
on public transport.

LIFE CHALLENGE
COURSE CODE: Y672
This course will help those who wish
to further develop their skills in
independent living at home, and in the
community. Students will engage in
community projects, access travel
training, and participate
in a residential.
MOVING ON
Students on this course will be encouraged
to explore their individual aspirations
and plan their transition towards a more
independent life. Students will research
and arrange individualised weekly activity
placements in the community that can
be continued once they leave college.
Including, leisure and community volunteer
activities. Students will also complete
related accredited Princes Trust units
and continue to study English and maths.
Students can also complete a Duke of
Edinburgh Bronze Award.
