Simple Berry Compote
Serves: ~1.5 cups | Prep Time: 5 mins | Total Time: 15 mins
This berry compote is a perfect topping on yogurt, pancakes, waffles... anything!
Ingredients
Directions
| 450 g (3 cups) fresh/frozen
mixed berries or fruit of choice
1. Place fruit and water in a small saucepan over medium heat.
| 45 ml (3 tbsp) water
2. Once bubbling, reduce heat slightly and use a wooden spoon
to mash the fruit.
OPTIONAL
3. Continue cooking over medium-low heat for 10 to 12 minutes,
occasionally mashing fruit to combine.
| Ground cinnamon
4. Remove from heat and serve!
| Vanilla extract
| Lemon rind
This recipe is great for reducing food waste, as you can use up any
leftover fruits you have on hand. Try it with peaches or cherries, and note
that frozen fruits also work perfectly in this recipe!
