BS 718:1991 density hydrometers
BS 718 : 1991 is generally aligned with ISO 387 and ISO 649. The speci昀椀cation includes 昀椀ve series and three
sub-series of hydrometers, of which the most widely used are listed below. They are calibrated using the accepted
units of grams per millilitre (g/ml) and are adjusted, except for the “SP” sub-series, at 20°C.
Series S50: 190mm long, divided in 0.002g/ml, range spans of 0.050g/ml
Series M50: 270mm long, divided in 0.001g/ml, range spans of 0.050g/ml
Series L50: 330mm long, divided in 0.0005g/ml, range spans of 0.050g/ml
