Legionella kit
Legionnaires’ disease is a potentially fatal
form of pneumonia caused by inhaling water
mist or droplets contaminated with Legionnaires’ disease bacteria (LDB). LDB are
widely present in natural water sources such
as lakes, streams, and ponds, but usually in
low numbers.
Water heaters, cooling towers, hot and cold
water systems, spa pools and stagnant water
can provide ideal conditions for the growth of
the organism.
Employers and Landlords are required by
law to carry out a suitable and su昀케cient risk
assessment of the potential presence of LDB.
With this in mind, Brannan has developed
a kit to help assess the likelihood of the
presence of LDB by measuring the temperature of water in pipes and tanks forming part
of water systems.
Catering test kits
The chance of getting Legionnaires’ disease
from natural water source is very slight, but the
risk is increased when the organism multiplies
in water systems between 20° and 45°C.
