neighborhood restaurants, the Student Center
Marketplace, bring a sack lunch, or enjoy OLLI9s
convenient lunches in the ballroom. You must
register for each week9s lunch in advance. The cost
for each weekly lunch is $13.50.

16. The Allure of Young Adult Literature:
Why Grown-Ups Love It Too
Young Adult (YA) literature, typically written for
ages 12 to 18, is increasingly popular among adults.
In fact, research commissioned by HarperCollins
reveals that 74% of YA readers are adults, and 28%
of those are over the age of 28. In this class, four
local librarians will discuss some of the best YA
books and explore why they resonate with readers
of all ages. You may discover a new genre or 昀nd
a book that sparks engaging conversations with a
grandchild.

The First Civil War

The Kansas-Nebraska Act was

implemented by Congress in 1854.
Bleeding Kansas, Bloody Kansas, or the Border War,
was a series of violent civil confrontations in Kansas
Territory and western Missouri, between 1854 and
1859. It emerged from a political and ideological
debate over the legality of slavery in the proposed
state of Kansas--it was the 昀rst Civil War. Join us for
a look at the other civil war–the 昀ght over Kansas
statehood and slavery.

This class aims to provide the knowledge needed
to align current assets with 昀nancial goals. We
will cover the basics of investing, the impact
of current events and timing on investments,
charitable giving, and estate planning. Designed
for those with some basic investment knowledge,
the course will start with foundational concepts
and progressively dive deeper, building on what
is learned in each session. If your goal is to create
a 昀nancial legacy for the future while maximizing
the value of your assets today, this class is for you.
