bluebells and white violets. The lane remains
the most intact connector between the bluff
and the valley of the half dozen originally built.

Presbyterian Church, an architecturally signi昀cant
house of worship built in 1988 with many

collection9s American folk art, agrarian landscape
painting, African ethnographic works, and a
comprehensive mineral collection.

explore some of the city9s most fascinating and
lesser-known attractions. Step into a world of
illuminated history at the ACE Sign Co. Museum,
where our expert docent will guide us through a
vast collection of vintage signs, each with its own
story, and get a behind-the-scenes look at modern
sign-making techniques in their production shop.
We9ll also visit the impressive Air Combat Museum
at Abraham Lincoln Airport and marvel at a 昀eet
of meticulously maintained, 昀yable aircraft. The
museum9s owner will lead our tour, providing
in-depth information about each plane and its
history.

16. Historical Highlights of Bloomington

Our day will begin with a behind-the-scenes
tour of the David Davis Mansion, an 18709s home
that combines Italianate and Second Empire
architectural features and is a model of Gilded
Age style. We9ll also stop by Ewing Manor, a 1929
estate designed by Bloomington architect Phil
Hooten in the Channel-Norman style so favored
by the af昀uent in the post-Victorian period. Next,
we9ll tour the surrounding Genevieve Green
Gardens, created by noted landscape architect
Jens Jensen, who also designed Spring昀eld’s
Lincoln Memorial Gardens.

17. Princeville Clydesdales
Tuesday, May 6

Join us on this visit to a Clydesdale breeding farm
in rural Princeville that houses 20-30 adult horses
year-round. We should see some young foals
as we learn about the complete operation and
its partner facility in Canada. Our host, Kendra
Knobloch, will explain breeding, foaling, sourcing
food, medical care, training to harness, showing,
and even what happens to composted manure.
