Join OLLI for a behind-the-scenes tour at Proctor
Place to gain insight into the daily operations of
this welcoming community. Founded by John
C. Proctor in 1906, Proctor Place is the longest
tenured retirement home in the Peoria area. We
will learn how Proctor9s leaders recruit, manage
and motivate their team members. We9ll also meet
Tina Carlson, the Director of Resident Services,
who will give us an in depth look at the move-in
process for new residents.
$35 3 includes guided tour, lunch on-site, and
shuttle transportation.
8. Mackinaw Valley Vineyard: Wine and
Chocolate Tasting
Wednesday, May 14
12:00 3 3:30 p.m.
We9ll learn about wine making and Midwest wines,
wine tasting, and pairing confection chocolates
with wine to enhance the 昀avors of both in our
behind-the-scenes look at Mackinaw Valley
Vineyard. Bradley University alumnae Diane Hahn,
owner of the working vineyard and winery, will
guide our private tour of the winery that sits on a
glacial moraine and features an amazing 30-mile
view of the valley and farms below. Our tour will
include a walk-through of the wine making room
and a visit to the vineyard weather permitting and
a formal tasting of at least six wines paired with
confection chocolates from Flesor9s Candy Kitchen
in Tuscola, a 4th generation family business.
$50 3 includes guided tour, tasting, a catered
lunch, and shuttle transportation.

The 182nd Airlift Wing, Illinois Air National Guard,
maintains and operates eight C-130 Hercules
aircraft capable of transporting large amounts of
personnel and equipment over long distances.
During our visit, commander of the 182nd Airlift
Wing, Colonel Rusty Ballard will lead a tour
to explore the Wing9s mission to include the
maintenance, 昀ying operations, and air support to
the Army, Security Forces, and much more. Lunch
will be catered on-site. All participants must bring
a photo ID to be admitted onto the base.

minimal chance for sitting, plus all Level 1 and 2
requirements.
11. Welcome to the Circus! Illinois State
University
Friday, March 28
10:30 a.m. 3 4:30 p.m.
On this day, we9ll travel to the Illinois State
University (ISU) Special Collections Department
to learn more about the Circus and Allied Arts
Collection. The collection contains over 1 million
items ranging from books (their oldest circus
book dates to the 1500s), performance contracts,
cashbooks/ledgers, correspondence, still images
in a variety of formats from glass plate negatives
to Kodachrome slides. ISU is also the home of the
Gamma Phi Circus, the oldest collegiate circus in
the nation. From its beginning in 1929, Gamma
Phi has established itself as a unique performance
troupe, supporting acrobatic and circus arts in
higher education, and continuing the legacy of
circus history in the state of Illinois. We will 昀nish
up our day with observing a practice session to see
how collegiate circus performers learn their skills.
