3. BU Theatre: John Proctor is the Villain
Thursday, April 10
5:15 3 10:30 p.m
Join us for Bradley University9s production of
John Proctor is the Villain. Based in rural Georgia,
high school students dive into Arthur Miller9s The
Crucible while navigating the ups and downs of
love, sex ed, and some juicy school scandals. This
fresh and funny take on a classic story is all about
transformation, fueled by pop music, and a mix
of optimism and frustration. Miller used the play
to comment on the McCarthy trials that were
occurring in the 1950s, which were often referred
to as witch hunts. Gary Nelson, retired attorney,
will share insights on the themes of truth and
integrity, the often blurred distinction between
law and justice. Scott Kanoff, Bradley University
theater professor and director, will present a preshow talk to further enrich our understanding.
$65 3 includes presentation, play tickets, and
catered dinner.
