Idaho Education Tax Credit: Donations to Boise State University
qualify for a 50% tax credit — a reduction in the actual tax you owe. If
you itemize your taxes, a donation to Boise State allows income tax
deductions on both your state and federal returns, plus a 50% Idaho
income tax credit. Your tax benefit is dependent on your personal
income level and filing status. Please contact your tax consultant for
additional information.
Identify: To ascertain, through research and analysis, those individuals
who appear to be the most promising as prospective leaders,
volunteers or donors.
Major Gift: A gift of $25,000+ that can be donated outright or pledged
over five years.
Phonathon/Call Center: Boise State’s annual campaign to solicit funds
and support in which student employees (and on occasion volunteers)
make phone calls to prospective donors or supporters.
Planned Gift: Planned gifts blend a specialized knowledge of
charitable tax law, estate planning and financial planning to enable a
philanthropically motivated individual to make a significant gift
while receiving lifetime benefits. Gift planning, the process of making a
planned gift, enables donors to structure a gift in different ways —
including outright, deferred or bequest — using a wide variety of
assets, such as cash, appreciated securities, real estate, significant
artwork and partnership interests.
Pledge: A multi-year commitment (up to 5 years) divided into specific
annual contributions.
Pledge Payment: Payment of all or a portion of a pledge.
