then significantly decrease, primarily due to lower birth rates during
economic downturns.
Faculty Match: through the Faculty Endowment Match Program,
donors who create endowed faculty funds with gifts of $100,000 or
more will leverage university matching funds for the college or school
where the position is based. See page 16.
Fiscal Year (FY): The period from July 1 through June 30.
Giving Societies:
•
Presidents Club: The university’s leadership annual giving
society that recognizes donors whose charitable contributions
to all funds, projects and philanthropic initiatives total $1,000
and above.

Lyle Smith Society: The leadership giving society to support
Boise State Athletics. Membership begins with a minimum
pledge of $50,000 over a five-year period or donating an annual
cash gift of $50,000 or more.

Barnwell Society: Recognizes individuals who have chosen to
benefit Boise State University through their deferred charitable
estate plans. The society is named for Bishop Middleton S.
Barnwell, Boise State’s first president.

Chaffee Guild: Recognizes donors for their sustained financial
leadership with lifetime contributions totaling $100,000 or
more. The Chaffee Guild is named in honor of President Eugene
B. Chaffee and his wife, Mrs. Lois Chaffee, the university’s first
philanthropists. Dr. Chaffee was the guiding force behind the
expansion of Boise Junior College and its evolution into Boise
State University.
