Oli Kirk, assistant general manager
at Gridserve, Stevenage, spoke to the
audience about the Gridserve concept
and the services offered.
“As the automotive industry continues to
evolve, the rise of electric vehicles (EVs)
presents both exciting opportunities and
unique challenges.
“The transition to electric vehicles is
an exciting journey, and it's crucial that
we support our customers every step of
the way. By improving how we explain
and demonstrate EV technology, we
can ensure a smoother, more enjoyable
experience for everyone,” said Oli.
Reflecting on the serious issue of the
environment and future health, Oli
said: “We can’t underestimate the
many benefits of EVs. For instance kids,
especially in places like school dropoff zones, are right at tailpipe level,
breathing in all those fumes and it’s
heartbreaking to think about how that
affects their health. Studies have shown
that this kind of exposure can impact
lung development and even cognitive
function.
“The shift to BEVs isn’t just about
cutting CO2—it’s about making the air
cleaner for all of us, especially for the
most vulnerable. While there are still
challenges, like battery production, the
immediate benefit of breathing cleaner air
is something I notice and appreciate every
day.”
Also at the event, Adrian Hawkins OBE,
chairman of biz4Biz discussed the benefits
of Gridserve and its services to the local
and national economy.
Gareth Hawkins was on hand to highlight
plans for this year’s biz4Biz Business
Summit while Darren Isted, editor of
Insight, described the history and reach of
not just this title, but also Sustainable Biz
and Manufacturing Biz.
