Skills with Immersive Technology
S
etting new standards in futurefocused education, Oaklands College
is investing heavily in immersive
technology to equip students with skills
for tomorrow’s workforce. As a leader
in adopting innovative solutions, the
College integrates augmented reality (AR)
and virtual reality (VR) across teaching
and learning, benefiting sectors like
engineering where digital proficiency is
critical.
At a recent Engineering Summit hosted
by Oaklands and supported by Biz4Biz,
industry employers explored evolving skill
demands in engineering and the role of
apprenticeships. The summit underscored
immersive technology as a transformative
training tool, allowing students to interact
with complex machinery and technical

processes in simulated environments.

The College continues to expand its
digital infrastructure with innovative
learning spaces, including new VR zones,
an i-Collaborate space, and an i-Platform
immersive environment, all aimed at
enhancing student engagement.
Pioneering the use of artificial intelligence
(AI) in education, Oaklands has also
introduced an AI policy focused on ethical
usage and data privacy. A student research
group is set to collaborate with the digital
transformation team, further embedding
AI’s potential to personalise learning and
refine assessments.
As technology continues to reshape the
workforce, this investment in immersive
technology positions Oaklands as a leader
in educational technology, aligning with
industry evolution and ensuring students
are prepared to thrive in the careers of the
future.
