The King’s Awards
For Enterprise
E
veryone loves a winner…! And
that is as true in business as in life
generally. The King’s Award for
Enterprise is probably the most prestigious
business award not only in the UK but
across the world. To be able to fly the
Award emblem with the King’s crown
outside one’s premises and to have it on
every document and piece of advertising
material demonstrates to customers and
suppliers that the business has achieved
excellence which has been recognised by a
high-powered panel of judges.
However the award is also a powerful tool
to demonstrate to employees they are
working for a winning company-one that
has been recognised at the highest leveland that also has a dramatic impact on
recruitment. People want to work for and
with a business recognised as being at the
very top of their game.
I am very proud that King’s Award winners
in Hertfordshire have made the county
one of the most successful for the last
6 years and that is something I hope to
see continue. We are “The County of
Opportunity” but I believe we can add to
that “And Enterprise”. For Hertfordshire
businesses of all sizes are truly
enterprising.
"People want to work
for and with a business
recognised as being
at the very top of
their game"
I am often told that “my business is too
small” or “too large” to enter the only
self-nominated royal award. However I
have presented to a business with two
employees as well as a business with
almost 3,000. So the size of the business
is irrelevant and in fact about 90% of the
awards are won by SME’s.
When one considers that there are
almost 6 million registered business in
the UK only about 250 King’s Awards
for Enterprise awarded each year-and
Hertfordshire businesses this year won
9-it emphasises the huge value and
prestige of the winners.
Together with my Business Panel of
Deputy Lieutenants I am are keen to
encourage more great Hertfordshire
businesses to enter to ensure that we
remain the most successful county.
