7. Grow a Dragon Tail
I could have placed this little gem anywhere along this inquiry but feel that it goes better alongside the
option of exploring possibilities.
The dragon tail is something that we can all have, requiring just a little imagination. I have written a
longer piece on the tail which can be found here https://bit.ly/2NBQRgk
Imagine that you could grow or attach a large, heavy dragon tail to the back side of your body. It can
extend from any part of your back. It is likely to be heavy and weighty. Try and feel into that weight
and work out where along your back side it is most comfortable.
Observe the colours and the texture of the dragon tail. Be adventurous with the design – it can be
anyway you like.
Now imagine that all of the gifts, skills, competencies, great personal qualities, life lessons and learning,
your family, friends and support network are part of that tail. They can be on it or in it, or they can
make up the tail. They can be the tail. Take a moment, to take a deep breath, let it out, let your body
relax and now, feel all of this at your back.
Notice how your body feels.
Remember, as a product of your history, you take all of this - the good, and the adverse stu you’ve
overcome - with you wherever you go. Use all of this when you try and get closer to understanding
and talking with your Inner Critic. Feel the weight and support of your dragon tail.
You can work with this tail any time you like. It’s valuable in any situation, not just with the critic.
Practice walking down the street with it and see what happens.
