As we at Bergmeyer reflect
on 2022, it is gratifying to look
back at the year and see how
our design collaborative has
so thoroughly embraced our
B the Change public benefit
mission statement.

As we know, creating positive
change in our community, our
profession, and the world is
an iterative process. We look
forward to building upon this
solid foundation to amplify
our impact in 2023.
CREATE OPPORTUNITIES
To create opportunities in design for even more young people from diverse backgrounds,
we will enlist a new class of Bergmeyer interns through our partnerships with the Boston
Private Industry Council and Dearborn STEM Academy. We have already awarded our
2023 Bergmeyer x PAVE Scholarship and – following our sponsorship of the inaugural
Hip Hop Architecture Camp in Boston – will do the same with the Bergmeyer x Hip Hop
Architecture Scholarship.
STRENGTHEN OUR
COMMUNITIES
Strengthening our communities always begins by supporting individual Bergies who
volunteer to become (and remain) civically engaged, and in 2023 this work will include
several pro-bono design projects for non-profits that are doing meaningful work in each of
our three home communities. In addition, our volunteer efforts to help AIA Communities by
Design leverage the power of design to create positive community visions will highlight an
international design project in a West African nation.
SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS
We have found time and again that Bergies love to open their hearts and wallets to support
organizations that are meeting vital human needs like hunger, homelessness, and inequity.
In 2023, we will have more stories to tell of firmwide volunteerism and philanthropic
contribution in support of existing and new friends in this important charitable arena.
ENVIRONMENTAL
STEWARDSHIP
And finally, we are redefining our commitment to environmental stewardship by focusing
our design practice on five “impact areas” where we believe that we can move the
sustainable design needle, as well as coming to market with an entirely new collaborative
service offer that will help our clients see greater opportunity to meet their own corporate
environmental stewardship goals.
