Be Spoken
Andy Fezz
Jason Disley
Be Spoken saw its second event in November, and saw another successful evening of Spoken
word shenannigans. There was a fine array of experienced, and the not so experienced poets.
But, I do have to say that all performed brilliantly sharing insightful verse and stories inspired
by their lives. I always feel quite privileged when people I dont know share such personal
stories, and anecdotes. The intimacy of a spoken word night is special as it brings together so
many different people. You have your jokers and clowns, your serious and dramatic. It is
special. The fact that Spoken Word is being kept alive in the South West by a number of
evenings -show just how important these nights are. Andy Fezz hosted the evening with great
aplomb at The Crown and Sceptre in St Marychurch, Torquay. There is no Be Spoken in
December -due to the holiday season, however we are back on January 20th. It should be a fine
evening with a lovely group of people. So, if you are in the area pop along, have a drink, maybe
share some poems if you would like to -and get 2025's Be Spoken off to a good start. Next
Month's edition of The Writer will share more about the forthcoming event. In the meantime
enjoy the holiday's. JD.
