Counselor Qualifications
Library and Learning Resources
The Teachers serve as academic and professional
counselors during the student’s education. The minimum
education requirement for academic and professional
counseling is six years of training at the School, which
includes the four-year Brennan Healing Science program and
the two-year Advanced Studies program. In addition, many of
our teaching staff and Directors possess other academic
degrees, and have training in a variety of majors.
To meet students’ needs for specialized resources specific
to energy healing as well as for access to library resources
during breaks when they are taking online general education
courses, the School offers the following services:
BBSH operates an on-site lending library for all students
out of the BBSH Logistics office during each Resident
Training week. All required textbooks and student
workbooks for the class year are available for student
lending. The BBSH Academic Programs manager is available
during each class week to answer students’ questions
regarding these resources.
The School has also entered into an agreement with the
Library and Information Resources Network (LIRN). LIRN is
a consortium of educational institutions that provides access
to multiple academic databases containing full-text articles.
Upon registration, students are provided with an LIRN access
code and detailed instructions for accessing LIRN resources
and technical support. During each Resident Training week,
support is also available at class to assist students in their
LIRN access and usage.
Placement Assistance
Placement assistance is provided to students through
Professional Practice classes in all four years of undergraduate
work. These classes are structured to assist the student in
setting up their own healing practice or integrating their skills
into their current profession. Topics may include: How to Start
a Practice, Interfacing with the Medical Community, and
How and When to Make Referrals.
For information on placement assistance for graduates of
the four-year program, please refer to the BBSH School
Catalog.
Student Records
Records of academic progress are permanently maintained
by the school, kept in a computer database at our administrative
offices and backed up nightly to assure their integrity.
In addition, hard copies of these records are kept on file
in the school’s administrative offices. Records of academic
progress are also furnished to the student. (See page 31.)
Housing
During Resident Training sessions, BBSH contracts with a
hotel for a block of rooms at a discounted rate. Students are
responsible for registering with the hotel and paying for their
room and meal expenses. (See Resident Training Facilities,
