and national chapters
of industry professional
groups like the Armed
Forces Communications-Electronics Association and the Association of
the United States Army.
Edmonson established
a program in collaboration with Harford County
Public Schools and Harford
Community College,
resulting in the creation of
APG internships focusing
on information technology
and cybersecurity.
“Under Commander
E d m o n d s o n , A P G ’s
outreach continues to
be essential to Harford
County,” Harford County
Public Schools Superintendent Sean Bulson
said. “While Commander
Edmondson has found
ways to connect our
schools with the fantastic
talent resources of the APG
installation, he’s been integral to ensuring the continued success of our students
in college and career.”
Theresa Felder, Harford
Community College president, credited Edmonson’s
leadership with embracing unique educational
concepts.
“We are grateful for the
engagement of General
Edmonson from the first
time he visited the campus
of Harford Community College early in his
command to his continued interest in developing programs that will
help develop future talent
pools for Aberdeen Proving Ground,” Felder said.
“He supported the Pathways in Technology Early
High School [P-TECH]
program, a partnership
between Harford County
Public Schools, CECOM
[Communications-Elec-
tronics Command], and
Harford Community
College, which has helped
students from Joppatowne
High School earn their
associate degree at the
same time they earn their
high school diploma.”
Edmonson is a native of
Willingboro, New Jersey.
He received his commission in 1991 from Frostburg State University. He
holds a bachelor’s degree
in business marketing, a
master’s degree in information resource management
from Central Michigan
University and a master’s
degree in national security
strategy from the National
Defense University.
Before commanding
APG, he served as deputy
chief of staff for the U.S.
Army Forces Command at
Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Edmonson has served
nearly 30 years with the
Army and has previously
deployed in support of
Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi
Freedom.

Edmonson and his wife,
Ellen, have two adult sons,
Robert III and Alexander.
Robert Edmonson was
