Clairey Evangelho
Apprentice Dancer
Clairey (she/her) is a movement
artist and educator. Originally
from California's San Joaquin
Valley, Clairey received her
B.S. from UC Berkeley in a
self-designed major program
which included studies of
Environmental
Embodiment,
Environmental Justice, and the
Sociology of Science. Clairey
has presented and co-produced
dance works with ODC Pilot
74 and SafeHouse RAW. She’s
recently been in process and
performance with Lizz Roman
and Dancers, Água Doce Dance,
and Nketchi Njaka. Clairey’s
artistry is influenced by her
autism, contact improvisation,
Afro-Brazilian
forms,
sitespecific and apparatus-based
dancing. She also works in
special education in Oakland.
Anna Gichan
Company Dancer
Anna Gichan (she/her) is a first
season company dancer with
AXIS
Dance
Company
and
toured previously with AXIS as an
apprentice dancer. Prior to joining
the company, Anna toured with
OMNIUM Circus as a poet and
acrobat. Since then, she has settled
in the Bay Area, regularly teaching
vinyasa yoga with Bay Area ASL
Yoga in partnership with Bay Area
ASL Climb at Pacific Pipe climbing
gym. Anna also softly studies
capoeira under Mestre Jordon and
Mestre Calango. As an artist Anna
is deeply influenced by nature,
especially the NJ farmlands that
raised her and shoegaze music,
which she regularly plays on repeat.
She holds a BFA in Dance from
Rutgers University Mason Gross
School of the Arts.
