THE SECURITY CORRIDOR, A REALITY SINCE 2018 IN FRANCE!
for workers on the side of the
roads, in addition to recovery
operators, all roadside security
are concerned, road personnel,
firefighters, police or gendarmerie
forces, etc.
The death of a recovery operator
on the northern highway in 2016
was the trigger for this fight for the
Association.
It was several years of struggle
and necessary steps to pass
this law in France, which is now
compulsory. This has been a
reality since September 2018
and Proud to be Dépanneur
(FDD)
is
now
applying
promotion to users - no small
task!
The association has fought hard
since 2016 to defend this project
which became a reality in 09/2018.
In other words, the road safety
delegation of the French Ministry
of the Interior has clearly validated
the principle of “Safety Corridors”
30
As a reminder, the safety corridor
is a virtual barrier that all drivers
must respect when approaching
personnel working on the side of
a road, expressway or motorway.
They must change lanes so as
to leave a free lane between the
responders and their vehicles,
or shift as far as possible to the
left of their lane and slow down
very significantly, especially off
the express lane and motorways.
Failure to comply with this rule will
result in a category 4 fine.
It is a huge victory for the association
Proud to be Dépanneur which is
at the origin of this file particularly
badly accepted by the authorities
at the first reading, and which
nobody believed, starting with the
professionals of the sector, unions
professionals in mind.
Only supported by a few politicians
and elected officials, who from
the start, took the measure of this
issue, the Association has never
let go of its fight.
Now all that remains is to educate
the drivers, and the task may be
long and difficult.
The association is now mobilizing
on this information, which will
be done in all directions, so that
this victory obtained after a hard
fight is sanctioned by a flawless
application of this decree and the
significant reduction in accidents.
