MICK GOULD COMMERCIALS & R D AVERY
RECOVERY OF THE MONTH
20
How great it is to see two AVRO
Members working together to
get a job done - which is exactly
what R D Avery of Landford and
Mick Gould Commercials of
Flimwell did.
Mick Gould Commercials received
a call from their customer asking
if they could recover a 48T crane
that lay on its side on the A3 in
Hampshire.
After speaking with the Police that
were on scene they agreed to
let them recover it and that there
was no need for them to call for
recovery.
Once on scene the officer in
charge told Mick Gould’s that
they were required to retain the
crane and recover it using their
operator - working for 3 Police
forces themselves meant that
they completely understood the
situation and accepted it was how
it had to be.
R D Avery arrived for the Police and
discussed the situation with Mick
Gould’s, the task ahead and the
requirements of both Hampshire
Police and Mick Gould’s customer.
It was then decided that both
companies would work together
to get the task done as this was
the best and quickest option for
various reasons.
They used both rotators for the
lift and the Fodens on the catch.
The crane was completely dead
with no steering so it was decided
the best option was to load it onto
the Faymonville trailer, because
its generous size and width would
make loading and unloading much
safer.
The task was completed and the
road was cleared in less than
3 hours from arriving on scene
without any further damage to the
crane and it is now back in the
workshop undergoing repairs.
It was a great team effort all round
and was dealt with very amicably
and professionally, whilst also
meeting the needs of Hampshire
Police force and the customer.
