A SEA OF PURPLE FOR THE PURPLE PARADE 2024
IN FOCUS
This year’s The Purple Parade was a celebration of inclusivity,
community, and friendships, for Autism Association (Singapore)
(AA(S)).
North Atrium. Students and alumni from Eden School captivated
the audience with their melodies, showcasing their musical talents
and the results of their hard work and dedication.
Pre-Event Celebrations
In the lead-up to the big day on 12 October, the spirit of The Purple
Parade was felt throughout the Association’s schools and centres.
Students, clients, and staff joined in with excitement, decking their
common spaces in purple decorations and participating in themed
activities. There were arts and crafts sessions and purple themed
dress-up days, where everyone embraced the purple theme to
show their solidarity with the movement for inclusion.
Event Day: Contingent March
On the day of the event, AA(S) also took part in the iconic
Contingent March, where partners from SGX Group and National
Junior College (NJC) joined in to walk alongside our staff, students,
clients and their families.
These pre-event celebrations were not only filled with fun but
also served as meaningful opportunities for students and clients
to engage with one another, as well as celebrate inclusion, and
embrace the joy of friendships.
As part of the celebrations, Eden School received books gifted
by Grassroots Adviser, Mr Murali Pillai, surrounding the theme
of inclusion, self-acceptance, kindness and friendship. Through
the support of the Bukit Batok constituency, collaterals were put
up around the neighbourhood to spread awareness about The
Purple Parade.
Event Day: Eden Ensemble Performance
One of the highlights of the event day was Eden Ensemble’s
heartwarming performance at the indoor stage at Suntec City’s
The march was a powerful reminder of how partnerships can build
a more inclusive community—where individuals from all walks of
life come together to celebrate differences and create meaningful
connections.
Inspired by Care Bears, the Association’s contingent theme this
year is a joyful reminder on the importance of friendships and
how caring for one another makes the world brighter and a more
colourful place. With the unwavering support of SGX Group and
NJC, we were able to foster connections and amplify the message
of inclusion.
As we continue to build an inclusive future, we invite more partners,
friends, and supporters to join us in this journey to support inclusion
and celebrate the abilities of persons with disabilities.
See you at the next The Purple Parade celebrations!
