events in Johnson County that will leave you wanting more.
“Our county is known for its wide open spaces and laid back
vibe,” said Ken Kosky, Executive Director of Festival Country
Indiana in Franklin. “Among our biggest attractions are
Mallow Run winery, which has an outdoor concert series each
year, Dollie’s Farm, which is a U-pick 昀氀ower farm, and The
Apple Works orchard. We’re also home to a growing craft
brew scene, aquatic centers like Freedom Springs Aquatics
Park, and more than 1,000 festivals, concerts and events each
year.”
FCI provides a seamless experience in discovering top-notch
restaurants, comfortable lodging, captivating attractions,
enticing stores, and a wide range of events across the Festival
Country communities.
”Festival Country Indiana is the of昀椀cial tourism agency for
Johnson County and we share all the great dining, shopping
and attractions via our social media and our website at
festivalcountryindiana.com,” said Kosky. “The Festival Country
Indiana Visitor Center in downtown Franklin features fun,
interactive exhibits like an 11-foot apple, a go-kart, a DJ
booth, and a free photo booth.”
Franklin enchants with its charming downtown ambiance and
college-town vibe. Greenwood, with its unbeatable shopping
options and picturesque parks is a thriving destination.
Bargersville entices with its renowned craft brews and
mouthwatering barbecue. And Johnson County’s beloved
small towns such as Edinburgh, Whiteland, New Whiteland,
Trafalgar, and Prince’s Lakes offer hidden gems and abundant
recreational opportunities waiting to be explored.
”Tourism is a major contributor to Johnson County’s
economy, with an annual economic impact of $341.3 million,”
said Kosky. “Tourism has been growing at a rate of 8.4
percent annually, and it helps small businesses succeed.”
Festival Country actively promotes growth and development
by spearheading initiatives such as expanding trails,
introducing new festivals, and creating innovative attractions,
all aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents and
visitors alike.
“Many business owners tell us that people from outside the
area, whether they’re from Carmel, Columbus, or Cincinnati,
are key contributors to their success,” Kosky added.
“If the tourism industry didn’t exist, each household would
have to pay $625 more in taxes each year to make up the
void left by the industry. Festival Country Indiana not only
promotes our area via advertising campaigns, but we also
partner with others to build attractions and amenities that will
draw visitors.”
